MACKINAC ISLAND

Sugar Loaf is the largest limestone formation on Mackinac Island. It is 75 feet high.

Sugar Loaf again, taken from a distance. I used a Polarizer Filter to reduce the suns glare.

Skull Cave was used by the Ojibwa tribe to bury its dead. The cave is made of limestone.

Arch Rock taken from a platform, facing Lake Huron. Taken Sept 21, 2008.
Here's another view of Arch Rock, taken from Lake Shore Blvd., looking upward. Arch Rock is 1146 feet high and 50 feet wide.

This is an unnamed rock formation on the island, along Lake Shore Blvd.
All pictures (except >) were taken with a Canon EOS D-SLR Rebel XT. I used a Canon 28-105 wide angel lens and a Hoya Polarizer Filter. To go anywhere on the Island, either you rent a bicycle, take a carriage ride or walk. Automobiles were banned from the island in 1898.
